🚨 The immediate trigger for this round of steep selloff came from Washington.

In the early hours of September 16, the U.S. Senate held a crucial procedural vote on the “Digital Assets Market Clarity Act”: 49 in favor and 50 against—failing to reach the required 60-vote threshold, so the bill cleared no hurdle.

The bill was originally intended to grant the CFTC primary regulatory authority over digital assets and to establish a clear federal regulatory framework for trading platforms and spot markets—seen by the industry as the most systematic legislative attempt in recent years.

But since the vote failed, the regulatory vacuum will be extended even further, and the industry’s efforts to spend hundreds of millions of dollars lobbying will be put on hold for now.
