The Japanese Financial Services Agency has just issued its 2026 fiscal year financial administration policy: while protecting users and maintaining financial system stability, it will promote the rollout of on-chain finance in society, and ensure coordination with existing financial infrastructure.

Plans include setting up a “Blockchain Finance Forum in the AI Era,” where public and private sector dialogue will sort out technological, institutional, and regulatory issues. The agenda also covers shortening securities settlement under asset tokenization, cross-border remittances, and the appropriate application of AI in finance. On the U.S. side, legislation is still being held up, while the neighboring side continues to pave the way.
