The U.S. Congressional Budget Office said the Trump administration had spent about $38 billion in the five months before the war with Iran began. According to ChainCatcher, the agency expects the conflict to push up U.S. inflation, with the inflation measure in early 2027 projected to be 0.5 percentage points higher than previously forecast.

The CBO also said replenishing ammunition stocks used in the war could take more than five years, potentially limiting the U.S. ability to respond to other conflicts.
