【I admit, FIL made me纠结 for a while】
Honestly, a few months ago I was a bit bearish on FIL.
A distributed storage sector—down nearly 97% from its all-time high. My judgment back then was this: a project that’s purely propped up by narrative, with no real demand behind it, will eventually have to repay.
But recently I’ve been watching the chart more closely, and I’ve started to waver a bit.
It’s not that I changed my mind. It’s because the price itself is talking. At the $ 0.86 level, it’s been consolidating for quite a long time, and trading volume has exploded abnormally. Anyone who’s been in crypto long enough understands this kind of signal—either the whales are accumulating, or someone is betting on a direction.
So the question is: what are they betting on?
FIL’s story is essentially Web3 storage. But when I trace it back from business logic, I still can’t quite figure it out. Real enterprise storage demand is already handled well by AWS and Google Cloud—cheap, stable, and fast. In what scenarios can decentralized storage like Filecoin truly replace them? Compliance-sensitive data? Privacy needs? These are pain points, but how feasible is it to actually implement—everyone can weigh that for themselves.
That’s where I’m stuck now:
Valuation is indeed low—so low it’s almost unbelievable. The sector narrative is also definitely there. But have the fundamentals really improved in a tangible way? I haven’t seen solid evidence.
So this is the core issue I’m focused on right now: just how much real usage demand does Filecoin have? Who is truly using this network to store data?
Until that answer is clear, I can only keep observing FIL—I won’t go heavy.
What are you watching? For the commercial realization of this storage sector, is there any angle I might be missing?
