Quick summary

The development of the VeThor Token (VTHO) focuses on a major network upgrade scheduled to be activated soon.

Radical Update Interstellar Hard Fork (September 16, 2026) – Mandatory upgrade for the Mainnet that enhances EVM compatibility and developer features.

Stimulating network demand (ongoing) – Growth depends on the ecosystem’s activity to use the new deflationary token-economic model.

Monitoring network indicators (after the upgrade) – success depends on tracking adoption, transaction volume, and net VTHO burn.

Detailed explanation

1. Radical Interstellar Hard Fork (September 16, 2026)

Overview: The VeChainThor network is scheduled to undergo a mandatory radical upgrade called "Interstellar," to be activated on the mainnet at block 25,902,540, expected on September 16, 2026 at around 11:15 UTC (NullTX). This upgrade, governed by VIP-255 approval, aims to align VeChain’s EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) with the latest Ethereum standards (Cancun, Prague, Osaka). Key additions include native support for cryptographic curves (BLS12-381, secp256r1) for signing in with passkeys, caching, and more efficient memory operations. For everyday users, this means a smoother and easier experience when using non-crypto-related applications. All node operators and exchanges must update their client version to v2.5.0 to remain on the official chain.

What this means: This update is neutral for VTHO in the short term because it does not directly change the token model or its issuance rate. However, it is positive in the long term because improving EVM compatibility and developer tools may attract more applications to the VeChainThor network, increasing transaction volume and demand for VTHO as transaction fuel.

2. Stimulating network demand (ongoing)

Overview: The core hypothesis of the VTHO value has now become effective after my upgrades to Hayabusa (December 2025) and Galactica (July 2025). VTHO generation is linked only to the VET that is locked, which reduces new issuance by around 50%, and 100% of the base transaction fees are burned (Gate.io). The next phase on the roadmap is not a technical update but driving real usage. The catalysts include more than 15 billion VET locked and over 5 million users on the VeBetterDAO application. In addition, the newly launched smart agent market veworld.ai aims to generate transactions on the network.

What this means: This is very positive for VTHO because its price is directly tied to network usage. More transactions lead to greater VTHO burn, creating a deflationary pressure.
