The Story of Laika》

On the morning of November 3, 1957, a message shocked the entire world.
A stray dog—Laika—taken in from the streets of Moscow boarded the Sputnik 2 satellite and became the first canine life form in human history to enter Earth’s orbit.

Over the following decades, the world continued to hear a sanitized version: that Laika spent several peaceful days in space, and after the mission ended, left calmly through euthanasia.
It wasn’t until 2002 that the long-buried truth was brought to light.

From the very beginning, this mission had not been designed with any plan for a return flight.
Under the immense pressure of the Cold War space race, engineers hastily built Sputnik 2 in just a single month. Laika endured brutal training: repeatedly confined in a shrinking, airtight metal capsule, subjected to the roaring and vibrations of simulated rockets, with sensors strapped all over her body to record every heartbeat and breath.

The moment the rocket roared into the sky, her heart rate surged to three times her normal level.
Not long after reaching orbit, the life-support cabin’s temperature control system failed. In the sealed metal capsule, the temperature rose rapidly. Trapped between extreme heat and overwhelming terror, Laika stopped breathing forever just hours after launch.

Sputnik 2 continued to circle Earth for 162 days, and ultimately burned up upon reentering the atmosphere, with no debris ever returning to Earth.

Laika was fashioned into a space hero; her image was put on postage stamps and etched into monuments, and she was celebrated around the world.
But this title of heroism was granted to her by human beings. She never had the right to choose—only a quiet stray dog, passively becoming an unavoidable footnote in humanity’s epic march toward the stars.

Laika’s story confronts us with a sobering truth: every great leap into the unknown carries hidden costs that no one talks about. Exploration has never been only glory and romance—it comes with sacrifice, pain, and the lessons that point the way forward.

And this spirit of the pioneer is precisely the core that $LAIKA carries today.

We are rooted in XLayer, pushing into a new frontier of tokenizing real-world asset RWA on-chain.
Just as Laika once ventured into the universe no one had entered before, we are exploring new boundaries where real value meets on-chain finance.
Laika did not set out to the stars by choice.
But her courage lights the path forward for every builder who dares to step into uncharted territory.
