BTC surges to 80k—did it break through?
It did break through, but it only held for less than a day before being pushed back again. Now it’s at 77.8K.
Last night, before I went to bed, I watched it grind right along the 80k level. I remembered something a friend of mine who does quantitative trading once said: integer “thresholds” have never been technical levels—they’re psychological levels. Look at the order book: near 80k there aren’t any real-looking historical trapped-positions, yet it just can’t get up there. Because the whole world has tied the question of “should I sell or not?” to the number 80k.
For a level like this, it’s totally normal that the first attempt to break through fails. In history, at 10k, 30k, and 60k—none of them didn’t have to grind and test multiple times before they truly held. The more times you fail to break through, the greater the momentum when you finally succeed—provided you’re still alive by the time it happens.
So I’m especially annoyed by a certain kind of person: someone who puts their whole position on the line at the 80k threshold, then after a 5% pullback falls apart and exits, cursing the market as a scam. The market didn’t fool you—what happened is you treated “hope” as if it were a “strategy.”
The level will be crossed. Sooner or later, it will. The real question is whether you still have ammunition in your hands when that day comes.
