⚡ WTO: LACK OF LEGAL HARMONY IS HOLDING BACK STABLECOIN

The WTO believes stablecoin has great potential in payments and international trade financing, but its development pace is mainly being hindered by a lack of regulatory synchronization between countries, rather than technology limitations.

Stablecoins currently make up about 3% of international payments, while only 39% of the legal jurisdictions surveyed have a complete regulatory framework. Even so, cross-border payments using stablecoins have increased by as much as 35 times over the past 4 years.

Developing economies can benefit greatly from lower remittance costs, but they are also the group with the most limited legal infrastructure. While waiting for regulations to be finalized, businesses such as Mastercard and Western Union have begun trialing stablecoin payments.

👉 Stablecoin is growing fast, but a synchronized legal framework is the decisive factor for how quickly it will be adopted worldwide.
