🏦 Kyrgyzstan National Bank (NBKR) has just signed a long-term cooperation memorandum with CertiK to secure the technical digital Som currency.
Under the agreement, CertiK provides technical support for digital asset security, verifying formats and managing risk; meanwhile, the two parties exchange expertise on cybersecurity, AML/CFT, and transaction monitoring. The virtual asset licensing platform is expected to be tested starting from 1/1/2027; NBKR must complete preliminary testing for the digital Som by the end of 2026.
Why is it noteworthy?
This is a concrete move showing that a central bank is incorporating a blockchain company’s security standards into the national digital-finance infrastructure right from the testing stage.
In simple terms:
Kyrgyzstan is asking foreign security experts to guard its digital coin before it’s issued.
