You can determine the future of crypto in the next 18 hours
The Senate will vote on the CLARITY Act on Tuesday, September 15 at 2:15 PM Eastern Time.
Here’s what you need to know:
1. It will set clear federal rules for cryptocurrencies and give the CFTC more authority over digital assets.
2. Only 60 votes are needed to begin the motion. This is not the final vote.
3. The Republicans have 53 seats, so they need to win at least 7 Democrats.
4. As of Friday, they were still behind, and talks continued throughout the weekend.
5. Senator Lummis added more than 120 provisions requested by Democrats to win their support.
6. A new “circuit breaker” allows regulators to step in if stablecoins drain community banks.
7. President Trump approved most of the ethics rules, including forcing officials to sell crypto or use a blind trust.
8. The House (Representatives) had already passed its version by a margin of 294-134 in July 2025.
9. If it passes, the bill moves to a final vote, then needs matching approval from both chambers before it can reach President Trump.
10. If it fails, it’s not dead—but with midterm elections approaching, there isn’t enough time.
