⚡ ByteDance just finalized a syndicated loan of USD 29.6 billion, far exceeding the initial target of USD 20 billion.

According to Bloomberg, TikTok’s parent company has completed an agreement with 28 banks including ICBC and HSBC. The tenor is 3 years, with an option to extend for up to 5 years. Chinese banks contribute more than 60% of the loan value, with Citigroup and JPMorgan coordinating.

Why is it noteworthy?
The initial interest rate is only 68 basis points higher than SOFR — the lowest level a Chinese company has ever reached when borrowing from abroad — compared with 250 basis points in SoftBank’s USD 40 billion loan in March.

Simply put:
This is the second-largest loan in Asia in 2026, and according to Reuters, the funds are primarily intended for AI infrastructure.
