US diesel retail prices have risen above $6 a gallon for the first time. According to Sina Finance, the national average reached $6.204 a gallon as of September 14, up nearly 68% from a year earlier.
The article said the increase reflects tighter international diesel markets as supplies of refined products from the Middle East and Russia have contracted. It added that the higher prices are increasing cost pressure on U.S. transportation, agriculture, and construction.
