🚨 Report: #revolut data leak incident continues to escalate
This time, it’s not a traditional hack of Revolut’s system
The attackers used the official email addresses of real government agencies to impersonate government departments, submitting false information requests to Revolut, resulting in some customers’ data being leaked
According to Revolut, the leaked information includes name, date of birth, contact details, occupation, account statements, complete transaction records, as well as some customers’ ID documents and facial verification photos. It also includes the transaction record for $BTC
So far, the hackers have begun publicly sharing some customers’ information and are threatening that if Revolut does not pay a ransom, they will continue releasing more information every day
Revolut states that only a limited number of customers were affected, and the company’s systems and customer funds were not impacted.
However, for crypto users, the simultaneous exposure of KYC identity information + facial data + BTC transaction records makes risks such as identity theft, highly targeted phishing, and tailored scams more worth watching.
