Apple seems to want to take iPhone Duo even further. According to a prediction by Bloomberg, Apple hopes to use Face ID to replace Touch ID in the future, but it’s constrained by the slim body—so fitting the usual components is still difficult. Some believe Apple’s smart chip could handle more image processing, thereby reducing the depth-sensing system requirements; however, it might not be achieved until the third generation of devices, when a periscope/telephoto camera is also expected to be added.

I think that if Face ID can truly be used without increasing the device thickness, the experience would be more complete than it is now—after all, the way you unlock the phone directly affects daily use.
