【Bitcoin long/short positions fall again, 50,000 BTC longs already closed】

Analyst Joao Wedson noted that Bitcoin’s long/short positions have decreased again, with approximately 50,000 BTC long positions having already been closed out. However, the long/short OI ratio remains positive at 1.32, indicating that long positions still dominate across multiple exchanges.

The news exerts some downward pressure on BTC. As market risk appetite cools, funds move away from high-risk assets, and BTC faces short-term profit-taking pressure.

From a funding perspective, after the news hits the market, uncertainty increases. In the short term, funds tend to lock in profits and wait. BTC’s technical indicators have shown signs of sluggishness, and combined with headline-driven disturbances, the probability of a pullback is rising.

Entry: 76453-77376
Take profit: 75598
Stop loss: 80088

Judging from the distribution of positions (chips), the trapped positions above 76915 have accumulated to a substantial level. Meanwhile, the profit-taking positions are mainly concentrated near the take-profit area, so during the decline the first wave of support is at 75598. Once it breaks, the drop becomes much easier. The positioning structure supports a short-term pullback.

Looking higher, the 77477 level is both a key resistance from the previous downswing and the start point of the earlier large bearish candle. Two resistance layers overlap there, like a ceiling. That’s why I place the entry near 76915—not to chase shorts, but to wait for a rebound to the resistance level before shorting; the risk-reward is more favorable.

The take-profit level isn’t picked blindly. It’s calculated from the lower band of the Bollinger Band on the 1-hour chart and prior consolidation lows. 75598 happens to be at the intersection of two support zones. At that point, short profit-taking and bottom-picking demand meet together, making it difficult to break through in one go—so it’s better to run first.

The stop loss isn’t admitting defeat; it’s to protect capital. A break above 80088 means my judgment is wrong. If it’s wrong, own it—don’t fight the market. The outcome of holding oversized positions tends to become worse the longer you hold, and you often end up cutting at the highest point. Set your stop loss, and you can sleep soundly.
