Just booked next week’s flights to Chiang Mai—round trip with taxes included is 1,600, which is cheaper than the deal I casually booked on a whim last week. There’s no major data on Thursday or Friday, so I cut my position by half. Instead of staring at the charts, I’ll go out and play for a few days. I haven’t picked the hotel yet; it’s always like this—book the flights first, and the rest depends on what happens on the spur of the moment. Last year I impulsively flew to Vietnam, only to end up staying put in Da Nang for five days without moving. This time for Chiang Mai, I haven’t really made any plans either—I just want to ride around in the mountains and spend an entire afternoon in a café. The only worry is the bread roll (mantou): I have to drop it off at a friend’s place for boarding. That guy was already unhappy in advance; the look he gave me is like he’s about to eat me.
