Ethereum is back above $2,600, and staking and L2 data are both strengthening in the same week📈

As prices rise, on-chain activity follows and grows denser.

First, look at the staking side. Total staking across the network hits a new all-time high, and the share of locked ETH in circulation climbs another level. The amount of ETH available for free trading is reduced.

What’s worth watching is the action in L2s. This week, the daily transaction volumes of two leading Rollups set fresh records, and their fee revenue has returned to its year-to-date peak. Money in the ecosystem is starting to rotate.

The tricky part is value capture. L2 profits stay with themselves, while ETH mainly receives settlement fees from the main chain. This allocation relationship still hasn’t been sorted out.

For crypto, ETH’s long-term pricing depends on settlement demand, while in the short term it’s driven by macro forces. The two sides exert different kinds of pressure—so the price keeps grinding back and forth. On-chain usage is a slow variable; macro is the fast variable. Only when both directions align does the market move smoothly—right now, the fast variable is in the lead.

Do you think this round of ETH momentum is driven by liquidity conditions, or by on-chain fundamentals? Let’s discuss in the comments.
