Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he is ready to meet his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, at the G20 in Miami next December.
"We must meet." Volodymyr Zelensky said he would attend the G20, scheduled for Miami in December, if Vladimir Putin confirms his attendance. "We need to come. We need to meet, talk, and make decisions," the Ukrainian president said in an interview with German radio Deutsche Welle (new window).
According to him, "it’s not the words that matter. What I will tell him or what he wants to tell me doesn’t matter. It has no importance. (...) Only results matter. That’s all."
The two Ukrainian and Russian leaders have not met in person since the start of the Russian invasion on February 24, 2022. This face-to-face would therefore be unprecedented since their only attempt at rapprochement on December 9, 2019.
