1. Our present-life understanding is limited and incomplete
We live in the present as if we are looking at images through a blurred bronze mirror—we can’t see everything through and through, nor can we fully grasp the truth. Human understanding always has its limits. Many things we don’t yet understand for now shouldn’t make us obsess over getting all the answers immediately. Just like a child’s thoughts are tender and one-sided: when they enter a fully mature state, those childish, partial views will naturally be laid aside.
2. Many gifts and abilities are temporary; only faith, hope, and love endure
Spiritual gifts such as prophecy, knowledge, and tongues will pass away and return to nothingness. But three things will never disappear:
- Faith: steadfast confidence
- Hope: unchanging hope
- Love: selfless benevolence,
and love is the highest and most central of the three.
3. Love is the foundation of everything
Patience, kindness, not envying, not keeping a record of wrongs—love never fails. Even if we have more knowledge, eloquence, or ability, if we don’t have love, everything is meaningless. The core we must practice in this life is love—this is also the only thing that will remain when we face the complete truth in the future.
4. In the future, we will see completely
Now we only know indirectly and vaguely. In the future, we will be able to face things directly and gain complete understanding, just as the Lord knows us completely. At that time, suffering and doubt will all receive answers.
