Cross-chain protocol Symbiosis releases updates after the Bitcoin bridge attack: the team has recovered about 15 $BTC and transferred them to a multi-signature wallet; the BTC cross-chain route is paused, while other routes such as EVM, TRON, TON, and Octopools have not yet been affected.
The attack originated from a vulnerability in the Bitcoin Bridge. The attacker minted an enormous amount of syBTC via the BridgeV2 contract, then sold about 4.39 WBTC on the Ethereum side, realizing roughly $336,000. The project offered the hacker a 20% white-hat bounty, valid until September 13; afterward, anyone who provides valid leads to help recover the funds can also receive a reward proportional to the amount recovered.
The final loss amount is still being calculated. The team is contacting affected LPs and developing a compensation framework. Another reminder from the cross-chain bridge: authorization limits, bridged assets, and LP exposure all need to be assessed separately—don’t let a single contract vulnerability wipe out all funds.
