Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW) shares fell 2.70% in extended trading on Friday after the company announced a new “at-the-market” equity offering program aimed at raising up to $2 billion. The prospect of issuing new shares immediately sparked investors’ concerns about dilution of their holdings, triggering a sell-off toward the end of the session.

According to a regulatory filing submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission, the glass and materials manufacturer entered into a share distribution agreement with The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc., which will act as the exclusive sales agent. Under the terms of the agreement, Corning retains full control over the timing of any share sales, as well as their price and size, while The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. will receive a 1.00% commission of total proceeds.
