The news has been pretty dense these past couple of days—I'll pick the one I find most interesting to start with 😉
The US has opened a channel. From now on, US institutions can directly get involved in trading Bitcoin and Ethereum perpetual futures contracts on the Singapore exchange. Previously, this door was closed—the Americans could only watch others play.
And this contract isn’t new. It went live back in November last year and hasn’t stopped since; cumulative trading volume has already reached $5.8 billion. Now it’s effectively bringing US institutions in directly, without having to set up another exchange.
It goes through Reg 48.10. Account opening takes about two to four weeks. Later-dated Bitcoin, Ethereum futures, and options are also queued up to come through.
In one sentence: perpetual contracts are slowly transitioning from an offshore game to mainstream, legitimate business.
📌 The old $5.8 billion contract is now opening the door to US institutions
After this step, where do you think the money will flow? Let’s discuss in the comments below 👇
