Macro pressure is still in control. Brent crude broke above $100 and settled at $101.21. The U.S. 10-year Treasury yield hit 4.85% — highest since November 2023.

$BTC briefly dropped to $77.6K before recovering to around $78K. $ETH is holding near $2,460.

But here's what I'm actually watching: the altcoin performance gap.

A trader compared prices from August 22 (BTC at $78,313) to September 9 (BTC at $78,440). Almost the same BTC price. Yet ETH was down 1%, XRP down 2%, DOGE down 2%, ADA down 3%. AVAX gained 2%. SOL and BNB were the exceptions, up 10% and 9%.

That's the story. Not "altcoins are outperforming." A few specific ones are. Most are just following BTC — up when it rises, down when it stalls.

The question I'm sitting with: what separates the coins that actually hold up from the ones that just track BTC? That's where the real research starts.
