Someone just drained roughly $320M worth of BTC from a Bitcoin sidechain😯

And yet $BTC didn't even flinch.

That might actually be the most interesting part of this whole story.

The exploit wasn't against Bitcoin itself. It hit Liquid's federation and the software around its L-BTC peg. The attacker was able to turn fake L-BTC into real BTC but Bitcoin's own network, consensus and settlement layer were never compromised.

That's why the market didn't treat this like a $320M Bitcoin hack.

It was a $320M infrastructure failure built around Bitcoin.

And honestly, that's an important distinction.

If someone finds a bug in a bridge, sidechain or wrapped version of BTC, it doesn't automatically mean Bitcoin is broken.

The market seems to understand that difference pretty well.
