A Seoul court ordered Smilegate founder Kwon Hyuk-bin to transfer a 35% stake to his wife, a holding valued at more than 2 trillion won. According to Sina Finance, local media reported that his wife had sought half of his 100% stake in the company, and both sides may challenge the ruling.
The asset split exceeds the 944 billion won judgment in SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won's divorce case and could become the largest divorce settlement in South Korean history. Kwon, 52, controls Smilegate, one of South Korea's largest privately held game companies, which developed CrossFire and Lost Ark. His net worth is estimated at about $3 billion.
