【Trading Journal: At 1,400 points, I almost destroyed my own big win with my own hands】
This post is for my future self.
That early-morning burst from 000660—too wild, too perfect. So perfect that my brain was completely hijacked by adrenaline and greed. After the breakout of the range, I made the most fatal mistake in trading: at the highs, I piled on aggressively with a heavy position pyramiding add.
I thought I would hold above 1,400 today, but the market has never cared what you “think.”
By the afternoon, as the Korean spot market entered the closing phase, the main forces and large capital moved out without mercy to take profits. Support on the board was instantly broken. From the high levels, a relentless wave of forced selling and panic dumping surged in—directly pushing my leveraged war machine, already maxed out, right to the edge of a cliff.
If I hadn’t come to my senses at 1,350, and hadn’t swung the blade to cut away half of those overheated positions, then before I got off work today, I would have been staring at a liquidation-notice SMS for a margin wipeout—and an account that went to zero.
Missing out on the profits from the very top hurts, but that pain bought me an extremely valuable lesson: the market can flip on you at any time. Going heavy at the beginning of a trend is riding the momentum. Going heavy at the end of a trend is asking for your own death.
Even though my FOMO squeezed my profits, by cutting positions with that last thread of rationality, I still locked in gains—and kept my capital and confidence in the game. These tens of thousands in insurance premiums are well worth it.
Admit you chased higher. Admit that greed retaliated and took you down. Imprint this lesson deep in your bones—never lay down your shield when the market is at its most euphoric.
Take a moment to steady my feelings, and write this down. Go have something good to eat. At 9:30 PM, we’ll come back and trade the second half of the U.S. market!
