Monday morning, the market gave a fakeout.
BTC touched 80559 overnight, getting bulls’ hearts racing right at the open, but it couldn’t hold and has now fallen back to the 79855 range. ETH is relatively stronger, around 2502, basically flat over the past 24 hours with no obvious selling pressure.
What stands out: BTC has touched above 80500 twice in a row and then been pushed back down. That level is clearly short-term resistance. Volume hasn’t expanded, which means there is no real buying follow-through overhead. For bulls to break out, a new catalyst is needed. The weekend volume contraction is normal, but the move before the U.S. stock market opens on Monday often gives direction — this time point is worth watching closely.
Trading idea: before a breakout, chasing longs doesn’t make much sense. I’m more focused on how to handle it if BTC falls below the 79200 low; that’s the lower edge of support from the past two days. If it holds, keep holding and wait; if it breaks, reduce exposure and wait for a better entry. If BTC stabilizes, ETH should have better short-term upside elasticity, and there was a sweep below 2460 once before, leaving the structure around that area relatively clean.
Don’t chase strength, don’t blindly buy the dip, and wait for the market to tell you where it wants to go.
