‼️‼️🇺🇦 BREAKING | Ukraine is making clear that a ceasefire cannot mean tying its own soldiers’ hands while Russian forces continue fighting. The Armed Forces say Ukraine
’s defensive operation is proceeding according to plan and that any pause in fire must be reciprocal rather than unilateral or asymmetric.

The Main Communications Directorate of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said the established defense tasks continue to be carried out in full, warning that a one-sided ceasefire would endanger Ukrainian servicemembers. Dmytro Filatov, commander of the 1st Separate Assault Regiment, said there is a General Staff order restricting strikes at operational depth. At the tactical level, however, no restrictions have been imposed on opening fire or conducting combat operations.

That distinction is crucial as diplomacy once again collides with battlefield reality. Temporarily limiting deeper strikes can serve a political or negotiating purpose, but forcing Ukraine to suppress tactical fire while Russian troops remain active would simply create a battlefield advantage for Moscow. Any viable ceasefire mechanism has to be reciprocal, enforceable and structured so that Russia cannot use a diplomatic pause to regroup, reposition forces or exploit Ukrainian restraint.
