Recently, a lot of capital has started betting on Anthropic’s IPO, but I think the risks for retail investors are actually quite high. When there are too many people piling into a FOMO trade, volatility increases, and it’s easy to get whipsawed.

A more prudent approach may be to focus on names that could see capital diverted away from them. A new listing will drain liquidity, such as Nvidia, AMD, and Micron.

Because institutions need to allocate to newly listed pure-play AI names, the most direct move is to reduce holdings of AI-related stocks that have already risen sharply and make up the largest positions in portfolios. Among them, NVDA is the most concentrated and most liquid holding.
So shorting these stocks and betting that Claude’s IPO will drag down the old AI sector is the strategy with the highest certainty.
