BTC once broke through $82,000, while ETH still has not climbed above $3,000. The divergence in this rally is more important than the size of the gains.
At 12:29 UTC on September 5, CoinPedia reported that Bitcoin broke above $82,000, while Ethereum remained below $3,000.
As of 02:10, $ETH was reported at 2477.9 USDT, up 1.2% over the past 24 hours.
What is unusual is that prices have rebounded, but funds and sentiment have not spread to ETH in sync; the market looks more like it is first chasing BTC’s certainty.
If the rise is mainly driven by short covering and liquidity, capital will first push BTC higher, then be transmitted to ETH and other altcoins through risk appetite.
But the counterevidence is also clear: CryptoRank previously recorded ETH briefly rising above $2,500, indicating that buying interest was not completely absent.
I think this is more like a short-term sentiment repair, and it has not yet reached the point of truly changing ETH expectations; the observation window is the next few trading days.
If ETH regains a foothold above $2,500 and continues moving toward $3,000, the divergence is expected to narrow. If it falls back below $2,400, the view that BTC is strong while ETH is weak will still hold.
