Both the 4-hour and daily timeframes are marked UP, but at 4436 the price can’t even get above the two 15-minute moving averages — it stalls right at 4437, and after hitting the 24-hour high of 4451 once, it never reclaimed it. The direction says up, but the move has no strength.
The order book already shows its hand: sell orders above are four times the buy orders below, with aggressive buying only at 41.6% and selling near 60%. Volume faded even earlier, with active futures trading down 88.7% over seven hours; both bulls and bears are pulling back.
Open interest dropped 10.5% in one day, yet price barely fell — that’s not fresh money coming in, it’s existing positions exiting, with the rebound being propped up by short covering. Once that fuel burns out, the sell wall that’s four times thicker becomes the ceiling.
At this level, I’m shorting XAU. I’ll enter on a rebound into the 4436-4437 moving-average resistance zone, first target 4415, then 4369 if broken, with a stop at 4452.
Unless 15-minute volume pushes price above 4451, aggressive buying rises back above half, and open interest turns from declining to increasing, that would be real new money entering. Only then would I close shorts and reverse to long. Until then, every touch of 4437 is a point to add to shorts.
