Novice Watcher September 5, 2026 | Evening Review

Came across CoinGecko hot searches Pons(PONS) (market cap rank 94), CLUSTER PROTOCOL(CP) (market cap rank 506), Lil' Shrub(SHRUB) (market cap rank 328); Binance new updates "Binance Will Add MarsCoin" and "Binance Will List MarsCoin"; $BTC 24h +0.4%, $ETH 24h +0.4%, and I casually noted today’s theme.

Today I added a section on "interaction security": often coins aren’t stolen, they’re "authorized" away one transaction at a time. I learned the term "approval phishing" and wrote it down first.

**What happened**
Some contract actions will ask you to approve: allowing a certain address to spend up to a limit of your funds later. That "confirm" you sign may not be a transfer, but a long-term permission.

**Three rules I set for myself**
1) Don’t click confirm on pop-ups I don’t understand; first check what this contract/site is
2) If the approval limit can be reduced, reduce it; after use, you can approve again
3) Regularly use tools to review which approvals I’ve signed, and revoke the ones I don’t need

**How this relates to wallet security**
Last time I noted "don’t lose your seed phrase" was about safekeeping; approvals are the side of "signing to let things through"—both need practice. Using the $ETH ecosystem as an example is the most intuitive.

Study notes, not investment advice.

Would you check the contract before approving? Any pitfalls you’ve run into?
