I’m not treating ETH’s high-volume move this afternoon as a reason to chase the rally for now: trading value has eased off, and the close still hasn’t crossed above the high of the high-volume zone.

From 15:00 to 16:00 on September 5, a single spot market recorded 30.1422 million USDT in trading value, while price only moved from 2453.60 to 2457.99. Over the next two hours, trading value fell to 5.0885 million and 3.0878 million USDT; the 18:00 close was 2458.49, only 0.50 above that bullish candle with high volume.

In the final hour, it touched 2460.32 intraday, but the close still remained below the high of the high-volume hour at 2459.90. This could mean absorbing selling pressure, or it could mean a lack of upward momentum; volume alone does not make it clear.

If a later 1H candle closes above 2460.32 and then holds on a pullback, I’ll drop this caution; if it falls below 2452.83, then even the lower edge of the high-volume zone hasn’t held.

If the close still hasn’t moved above the high-volume zone, I’d rather wait one more hour; what situations have you encountered where making an early call was more reliable than waiting for confirmation?
