🔥 AMC vs ROBINHOOD: is a tokenized stock even a stock?
AMC CEO Adam Aron publicly criticized the emergence of tokenized versions of AMC and questioned this format. Important: this is the position of AMC’s CEO, not a decision by a regulator or a court.
And this is where it gets really interesting.
Robinhood itself explains it clearly: its Stock Tokens give economic exposure to the price of real shares, but do not give the holder any legal or beneficial rights with respect to the issuing company. In other words, an AMC token ≠ a regular AMC share.
So we get a new conflict of the RWA era:
📈 stock price — on-chain
⚡ access — almost 24/7
❌ shareholder rights — no
And here’s the question I’m really interested in:
What matters more — being able to trade a stock on-chain, or true ownership with shareholder rights? 👇
