After BTC held 79,000, why can’t it be called a recovery before 79,800 is reclaimed?
After a rapid pullback from above 82,000, BTC has temporarily found support around 79,000.
Many people see that it did not continue breaking down and immediately interpret that as the “end of the correction.”
But what matters more now is that the rebound has still not reclaimed the area around 79,800.
This means that, although the market has not yet expanded further to the downside, the overhead selling pressure has not truly been digested either.
From the chart action, this currently looks more like a narrow-range balance after a sharp drop:
price found buying support around 79,000;
but each time it approaches 79,800, buying power is still not enough to keep prices stably above that level.
So 79,000 and 79,800 are not simply support and resistance right now; they are answering two different questions:
whether the 79,000 area can continue to attract support determines whether the short-term trend remains in consolidation;
whether 79,800 can be effectively reclaimed is what determines whether this pullback has moved from “stopping the decline” to “recovery.”
What is easiest to get wrong right now is not judging bullish or bearish, but equating “it didn’t keep falling” with “it has already turned stronger.”
Going forward, only two things need to be watched:
after a retest of the 79,000 area, does price quickly return to the range;
when testing 79,800 to the upside, can it close effectively and form follow-through support.
Before these two conditions appear, sideways movement is still just the market waiting to choose a direction again.
Which do you care more about: the support around 79,000, or whether 79,800 can be reclaimed?
