Tesla announced the steering-wheel-free autonomous Cybercab, but the stock instead fell 6.4%. What do you think of this move?

Many investors believe that while the Robotaxi concept is exciting, it is still far from commercial deployment, and Tesla’s core business remains car sales. If it over-invests in the fully autonomous taxi space, could that distract resources and hurt the development of its main business?

The market voted with its feet, and the post-announcement stock decline also reflects investors’ doubts about this strategic direction. After all, for Tesla, it still needs to first get mass production of the Cybertruck and key projects like the Model 2 done. A distant plan is less convincing than delivering near-term performance.
