Japan's Ministry of Defense plans to develop AI-integrated satellites to analyze space surveillance data, thereby shortening decision-making time and supporting long-range missile strike capabilities.

This agency plans to collaborate with Japanese companies to manufacture test satellites during the 2027–2029 fiscal period, and then test their performance on the ground.

These satellites could be launched from fiscal 2030 onward to evaluate integrated functions. The AI system is expected to be developed domestically.
