One share, but two completely different environments.
In a brokerage account, after you buy the stock, it remains part of traditional financial infrastructure. Access to it, custody, and transactions run through a broker.
With bStocks, the asset is represented as a token on the blockchain. This changes the interaction model itself.
Self-custody appears, the ability to move the token to a compatible Web3 wallet, and potential access to blockchain infrastructure where a specific bStock and its corresponding scenario are supported.
That is, the difference is not that one share is “better” than the other.
The difference is where the digital representation of the asset lives and who controls access to it.
The brokerage model is built around an account.
The tokenized model — around a blockchain asset.
For me, this is one of the most interesting aspects of TradFi tokenization: it doesn’t change the underlying asset itself, but the way it’s stored, moved, and interacted with through digital infrastructure.
