Nvidia Plans to Acquire Hugging Face for $12.93 Billion
On September 3, Nvidia proposed acquiring the AI startup Hugging Face for $12.93 billion.
Last week, Pollen Robotics, an open-source robotics company under Hugging Face, released Microduck—a $399 biped robot. Standing just 25 centimeters tall and weighing about 800 grams, it packs 15 motors, cameras, LiDAR, and two IMUs. Out of the box, it can walk, sit down, grab objects, and play soccer. After falling over, it can even get back up on its own, and with wheels attached, it can slide.
Microduck’s movements can be retrained by itself. Users first train actions in MuJoCo, a physics simulator, using reinforcement learning, then deploy the trained policy onto the real robot.
The SDK, simulator, and a complete reinforcement learning training stack are all open-sourced. The entire software suite is released under the Apache 2.0 license.
