Deep Tide TechFlow message, September 03, according to attorney Ariel Givner, that crypto hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger has been hit with a class-action lawsuit in the United States over a security incident in 2023. The plaintiffs claim that the incident led to the leakage of customers’ personal identity information, such as names, email addresses, and phone numbers, and that Ledger failed to timely and adequately disclose the relevant circumstances. The complaint also points out that the hackers later used these contact details to impersonate Ledger, tricking users into approving fraudulent transactions and stealing crypto assets.
The plaintiffs claim that Ledger previously had an incident in 2020 involving the exposure of information for approximately 270,000 customers, and that this lawsuit alleges ongoing failures in data security and customer privacy protection. The claims are based on New York State (General Business Law) Sections 349 and 350, negligence, negligent misrepresentation, promissory estoppel, and breach of an implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, among others.
