Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said AI is evolving into national economic infrastructure similar to electricity and the internet during a G20 innovation ministerial meeting with U.S. Commerce Secretary Lutnick on Wednesday local time in the United States. According to ChainCatcher, Huang said the biggest risk for countries is failing to invest in and adopt AI fast enough, leaving them behind in the next industrial revolution.

Huang said building 1 gigawatt of AI infrastructure currently requires about $5 billion to $6 billion in investment, and he expects total construction to reach about 100 gigawatts from now through the end of this decade. He also cited a five-layer model covering energy, chips, infrastructure, models, and applications, saying each country needs to build AI infrastructure and decide which parts of the stack it wants to participate in.

Huang said AI is likely to reach AGI in the next few years, with the next stage moving from large language models to agents and embodied intelligence. He added that AI is more likely to replace tasks than jobs entirely, with operational work such as writing and information processing likely to be automated gradually.
