๐Ÿš€ What is ASTS?
The company builds a satellite network called SpaceMobile. The goal is to connect a regular phone to satellites without additional Starlink equipment or modifying the phone. The network can theoretically provide 4G/5G calls, messages, and data in areas where there are no cell towers.
๐Ÿ›ฐ๏ธ Why might it be important?
It has partnerships with nearly 60 telecom operators worldwide.
It targets a potential base of roughly 3 billion subscribers through its partners.
The new BlueBird satellites are designed to deliver speeds exceeding 150 Mbps per coverage cell under the targeted design conditions.

In August 2026, the company launched BlueBird 11, 12, and 13 on a Falcon 9 rocket.
It has agreements with major telecom companies, including Verizon, AT&T, Vodafone, and Rakuten, as well as an agreement with stc to provide coverage in Saudi Arabia and selected countries in the Middle East and Africa.

โš”๏ธ ASTS vs Starlink
The concept is similar in terms of connectivity from space, but ASTSโ€™s model is different: AST wants the customer to use their existing phone and connect directly to the satellites via the telecom operator, rather than relying on a traditional dish/receiver device. This makes it a significant competitor in the Direct-to-Cell market, with strong competition from SpaceX.
From an investment perspective: ASTS is a high-risk, high-potential stock in terms of growth; its success depends largely on how quickly satellites are launched, building the constellation, turning partnerships into revenue, and the ability to finance expansion.
