$CL In one day, 37% contract positions were added, yet the price is stuck at 90.6 and hasn’t moved even a step. In 24 hours it’s only +0.21%, and over 4 hours it’s actually down -0.26— with this much leverage, it can’t even reach the edge of the 92.26 prior high. This doesn’t look like it’s building momentum.
I’m watching who added that 37% increase: the whale long account on the exchange-side cut 7.57% over seven hours, and the position size was cut by 5.1%. Long accounts across the whole market were already down to just two-tenths; even among this scarce group of longs, big players are also withdrawing. In this wave of position “flood,” not a single one is a big player adding longs.
The funding rate samples are all eight negative, with an average of -0.017%. The increase is shorts paying to stay on top; in the spot order book, there are 22,000 sell orders stacked against 12,600 buy orders, with a buy/sell ratio of 0.569. The sell wall is just posted right on the breakthrough path.
Leverage is piled up, the price won’t move, and smart money is backing off. These positions don’t have the fuel to break upward.
At 90.6, I’m standing with the shorts and going short.
There are two reversal conditions: either volume eats through the sell wall above 92.26, or the funding rate turns positive and longs are willing to pay. If either happens, then I’ll admit I’m wrong and exit.
