A one-sided market: turning tens of thousands into hundreds of thousands—what’s truly useful is actually just 4 sentences.

In the same market cycle, some people make their account bigger and bigger, while others lose from start to finish. Many attribute the difference to luck. But the real gap is usually not about your chart-reading ability—it’s whether, when facing the market, you have a set of rules that you can execute all the way through.

Sentence 1: Don’t go all-in.
Small capital fears not making money fast. What it really fears is one mistake that injures your foundation. My habit is to test with a small position first, then add only after the direction is confirmed—rather than putting all your chips on right when you enter. Holding a bit of cash is, in essence, giving yourself a way out.

Sentence 2: Don’t fight the trend.
When price is rising, don’t rush to short just because it has gone up too much. When price is falling, don’t think about bottom-fishing just because it has dropped too much. In a one-sided market, the most taboo behavior is flipping back and forth—bull today, bear tomorrow. In the end, you may not lose on price action, but fees and repeated wrong trades will grind away your capital.

Sentence 3: If you’re wrong, get out.
Stop-loss isn’t admitting defeat—it means acknowledging that your judgment for this trade was wrong. The truly dangerous part isn’t a single small loss. It’s when you already know you’re wrong, yet keep finding reasons to add more, keep holding, and finally turn a small loss into a big one.

Sentence 4: The money you make, you must be able to keep.
Many people haven’t failed to earn—they’ve failed to protect profits. After they make money, they get greedy and eventually give it all back. Profits the market gives you are only real if you lock them in. Otherwise, if you don’t take them out, they’re only unrealized gains.
So I’ve always believed that trading isn’t really about who can catch the biggest wave—it’s about who can repeat simple things well.
Low leverage, follow the trend, cut losses, lock in gains.

Don’t fantasize about turning it into double with one trade. First, make sure you can survive every market cycle. As long as your principal is still there, the next opportunity will be yours.
