Empirik, the predictive infrastructure startup incubated by Sequoia Capital, has successfully spun out as an independent company and completed a $21 million seed round with participation from Sequoia Capital, Canapi, and Alumni Ventures.

Empirik’s platform uses AI to track changes in the system, predict their impact, and issue early warnings before an incident occurs. This tool can automatically approve low-risk changes, set limits for large-scale changes, and route dangerous updates to humans for review.

Empirik currently serves a number of businesses in the Fortune 500 group, including S&P Global and Guardant Health. The startup aims to help infrastructure engineers improve performance in a way similar to what Cursor and Claude Code offer to developers.

Sequoia Capital says Empirik can currently operate independently and act as an add-on layer for AI SRE platforms.
