Only when you experience a drawdown do you realize that stop-loss orders also pick a venue.
Today, BTC has been pushed down from its intraday high. Many people’s first reaction is to ask about direction: Is this the top? Should I flip? Can I buy back after a dip?
But the more realistic problem in perpetual contracts is this: when you actually need to stop out, reduce position, or flip, the order book depth on the same trading pair across different venues—trigger price, mark price, fees, funding rates, and slippage—can turn “losing a little less” into “getting clipped a lot more.”
I’m increasingly convinced that short-term traders shouldn’t be loyal to only a single entry point for opening positions. Direction is the judgment; execution is the cost. The faster the market, the more the cost feels like a second leverage.
PerpEX-type Perp aggregators aren’t valuable because they give you another button—they reorder the process: choose the asset first, then compare execution conditions across different venues, and only then decide which way this order should go.
