HYPE’s fee-recapture mechanism is strong, but the saying “the fees are all in the community” doesn’t mean every fee is being used for HYPE buybacks. Hyperliquid’s official fee documentation breaks down where the fees go into HLP, the Assistance Fund, and deployers. $HYPE

CoinGecko 05:00 (UTC+8): price is about $82.43, market cap about $18.3 billion, and 24-hour trading volume about $1.4 billion.

The official documentation states that the HYPE in the Assistance Fund will be burned; however, the fees must first be allocated to different destinations. So if trading volume is increasing, that can only indicate the fee pool may be growing—it can’t skip the step of “the actual portion that goes into the Assistance Fund.”

To assess how strong the recapture is, you should verify, within the same period, the total fees, Assistance Fund inflows, the actual amount burned, and the HLP/deployer allocation. If any piece is missing, deriving the buyback size from total trading volume will oversell how the mechanism works.
