Traditional financial giants collectively step into the stablecoin market!
Including 21 of the world’s top international financial institutions, such as Citigroup, Fidelity, Goldman Sachs, and U.S. Bancorp, have just announced a plan to jointly establish a new stablecoin company in the second half of 2026. The company’s name has not yet been disclosed.
The new company will operate globally. In the beginning, it will mainly issue USD-pegged stablecoins, and in the long term it plans to expand to stablecoins denominated in the currencies of other G7 member countries, with an euro stablecoin being the next priority issuance target.
When traditional financial giants team up to enter the stablecoin space, it means the market landscape for compliant stablecoins is about to undergo major changes, and the large-scale mainstream adoption of stablecoins may come faster than we expected. What do you think about traditional financial institutions entering and issuing stablecoins?
