Deep Tide TechFlow news: On September 01, according to The Verge, Nvidia’s DLSS 5 will be officially released on September 3. At launch, it will support only the RTX 50-series desktop and laptop GPUs, as well as the GeForce Now cloud gaming platform. The launch title is NBA 2K27, released the same day. Other previously announced supported games—including (Resident Evil:...) , (Starfield), (Hogwarts Legacy)—have not yet had confirmed launch dates.
Nvidia positions DLSS 5 as the "most important graphics breakthrough since real-time ray tracing in 2018." However, since its release in March, the technology has been plagued by controversy. Early demos made major changes to the appearance of in-game characters, which drew widespread criticism. In terms of performance, DLSS 5 has a high overhead: Nvidia estimates a performance loss of roughly 50%–60%. Even the mid-range RTX 5060 needs to enable 6x frame generation to run smoothly at 1080p.
