I’d ask a simple question before buying bStock: what exactly am I buying right now?
Because the phrase “tokenized share” easily creates the feeling that we just took an ordinary share and moved it to the blockchain.
But it’s a bit more interesting than that.
When I buy a regular share through a broker, I understand that a specific financial asset, an issuer, and certain ownership rights sit behind it.
With a tokenized asset, another layer is added — the blockchain.
And it’s important not to confuse the token with the underlying asset itself.
Tokenization can change how the asset is accessed, recorded, and traded, but by itself it does not change the nature of what lies beneath it.
So what interests me most about bStocks isn’t even the ability to trade shares in a crypto environment.
I’m interested in something else: whether such a model can make traditional financial assets as convenient to use as crypto-assets.
Because if the answer is “yes,” then we’re not just talking about tokenization anymore.
We’re talking about the gradual blurring of the line between TradFi and crypto.
And that’s where, in my opinion, the most interesting part begins.
